Writer's picture: WORLD IN PRINTWORLD IN PRINT

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre occurred on April 13, 1919, in Amritsar, Punjab, India. A large crowd of unarmed Indians had gathered for a peaceful protest against British colonial policies. General Reginald Dyer ordered his troops to open fire on the protesters without warning, killing and injuring hundreds. The incident sparked outrage and protests against British rule and became a turning point in India's struggle for independence. Today, the Jallianwala Bagh garden is a national monument and a symbol of India's fight for freedom and the sacrifices made by those who fought for it.
