Timeline of India's first mid-air collision :


1. First mid-air collision (November 12, 1996):

- At around 6:30 pm, a Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 747 en route from Delhi to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, collided mid-air with a Kazakhstan Airlines Ilyushin Il-76 cargo plane.

- The collision took place near Charkhi Dadri, a village in Haryana, India.

- All 349 passengers and crew on board both planes were killed in the crash.

- The collision was attributed to a lack of communication and misidentification by air traffic control.


This was a tragic incident that had a major impact on aviation safety in India. It prompted the government to introduce a number of measures to improve air traffic control, including the implementation of more advanced communication and navigation technologies, and the establishment of a more robust regulatory framework for the aviation industry.
