More than 270 civilians were reported dead in battles between the army and paramilitaries in Sudan's capital. Witnesses reported bodies in the streets and thousands of residents fled Khartoum. Despite proposed ceasefires, gunfire continued, and foreign diplomats were attacked. The violence erupted between the two generals who seized power in a 2021 coup, with the RSF fighting to remain independent from the regular army. Hospitals have been shelled, and food, water, and power supplies are dwindling. Evacuation attempts have been difficult, with many citizens unable to reach safety.
