Writer's picture: WORLD IN PRINTWORLD IN PRINT

Benito Mussolini was born on July 29, 1883, in Predappio, Italy. He became a socialist journalist and served in the Italian army during World War I. In the 1920s, Mussolini founded the National Fascist Party and became Italy's Prime Minister in 1922. He established a dictatorship, suppressing political opposition and forming an alliance with Nazi Germany during World War II. As the war turned against the Axis powers, Mussolini was deposed by the Italian government and arrested by Italian partisans. He was executed on April 28, 1945, marking the end of his fascist regime and a turning point in the war in Europe.
