Writer's picture: WORLD IN PRINTWORLD IN PRINT

The Army and Assam Rifles were deployed to control violence during a tribal protest in Manipur. Over 4,000 people were rescued and given shelter. The forces arrested the violence with the help of state police. Flag marches were conducted to keep the situation under control. The protest was called by All Tribal Student Union Manipur to protest non-tribal Meiteis' demand for Scheduled Tribe status. Clashes between tribals and non-tribals broke out during the rally. Curfew was imposed in several districts, and mobile internet services were suspended for five days.
